I can’t believe tomorrow is Easter Sunday! I am not as ‘ready’ for Easter as I hoped I would be, but I have some little surprises and chocolate ready for the kids, so that is the most important thing! Did you know that Easter Sunday also coincides with April Fool’s Day? I wonder if the Easter Bunny will get up to any shenanigans?
Even though I didn’t have time to do a great deal of decorating for Easter, I wanted to share this cute and simple Spring inspired centerpiece that I created using 3 simple elements.
The inspiration for this project came while I was strolling the aisles of Michael’s, a pretty regular pass-time for me! I had seen this wooden bowl when I was sourcing decorative items to style some shelves for a client of mine. It wasn’t right for that particular project, but I was drawn to it and started imagining what I would do with it or where I would put it in my own home. Then I had an idea to create a centerpiece for my long rectangular coffee table!
I immediately thought of Spanish moss and candles, which is a combo I have used several times in my home already.
I really love the look of Spanish moss, and it is a great way to inject life and greenery into your home. It is also quite affordable-you can buy a bag at Michael’s for arout $10…cheaper if you remember to use a coupon!
So with the wooden bowl and Spanish Moss in hand, I headed off to the candle section of Michael’s. I decided to use these off-white ones, and figured that 5 of them was the magic number.
Assembling this centerpiece couldn’t have been easier. I just lined the candles up in the bowl, spacing them equally.
I then tucked the moss all around the candles and voila…that is all there is to it!
You know the ole saying “hindsight is 20-20”? Well when I lit the centerpiece, I realized that flameless candles would have probably been a safer option for this particular project.
If I light this centerpiece as is, I will have to keep a close eye on it to make sure the Spanish moss doesn’t catch on fire…yikes! It sure does look nice with the candles lit though…
Hope you are having a great extra long weekend and thanks for reading!
