Ikea Decor – Favorite Finds

Hello friends! How is your week treating you? Mine has been a bit of a juggling act as I try and sort out some medical issues for my youngest daughter, which means lots of appointments. I am feeling so grateful for my sister, Jennifer, who has been helping me out both with the kids and also around the house.

Sisters are the best!

Steve was away for a few days, so I enlisted Jenn’s help in moving some furniture around…again… I am a compulsive furniture and decor re-arranger! But I do think I have finally landed on a set up that I am really happy with and I will be sharing it with you here over the coming weeks!

I got to start the week out in my happy place…Ikea. I can’t help but love it there. I feel so inspired walking around that store. I was actually there to return some items that were not used in a recent decorating project, but of course I had to have a wander around. There were lots of goodies that caught my eye, and I had to practice some restraint! Today I thought I would share some of the items that I was tempted by and then I will also dish what came home with me. Because I couldn’t leave empty handed!

As I made my way through the showroom and marketplace, here’s what caught my eye:

I am really loving some of the botanical prints that I am seeing at Ikea. In particular, this fern leaf print…it’s available as a cushion cover

…which is a really subtle way to incorporate this pattern into your life.Or if you are really bold in your design taste, you can have a chair in this pattern!

I think this wing chair is such an amazing piece for a really reasonable price – $299! It works in almost any style of home, as it has both modern and traditional stylistic elements to it.  If you don’t love the pattern it comes in 5 solid colors.

One other botanical print to share with you guys – these palm leaf print curtains … I actually bought them awhile back when they first came out because I loved them so much. But they didn’t work with my existing decor so I had to take them back. Sad face.

Here is another item that I actually put in my cart but then put back…it is a super soft throw blanket. It’s a gorgeous chunky knit and such a pretty blue color! It also comes in an off-white.

I have already decided I am buying this on my next visit! I just wanted to be sure I would like it in my living room first. Throw blankets are one thing I feel like we can’t have enough of at our house!

Duvet Covers…there are several really great patterns that I could imagine using in many different rooms. First of all, buffalo check is having a moment in the design world. This one comes in black, pink and green and I love it!

There is also a buffalo check cushion cover that I think is a great design staple, and the price is ridiculously low…$6.99! As someone who sews cushion covers to sell on Etsy, I can assure you that you can’t even buy the fabric for that price!

Ikea is one of my favorite places to shop for bins and baskets when attempting to corral clutter. I have never noticed this little beauty before:

In the display room, they had three of them hanging on top of each other and they were used to store magazines. I immediately thought of a zillion things a family could use these for. What is really great about them, is that they are perfect for a room that is short on floor space, you can use the wall for storage!

Another basket that caught my eye was this one-and it’s available in 2 colors!

These wire mesh baskets could function as stylish storage in any room of your house!  And speaking of the kitchen section, the dishes and glassware always rope me in, even though I don’t need anythings from that department. Which is why I walked away from this cute turquoise pitcher (which is a new item from the summer collection) and matching set of glasses. They may find their way into my home at some point! #gallery-1 { margin: auto; } #gallery-1 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-1 img { border: 0; } #gallery-1 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */

Another new-ish item that I am loving is this glass cloche:

This would be a beautiful addition to any open shelving, and a cute way to display a special memento! These ceramic cacti are also fairly new, and I think they are adorable!

These may also make their way into my home one day…they catch my eye every time!

And now onto what I came home with…a few little finds to spruce up my decor…up first are these cushion covers. Even though I love to make my own, you can’t buy the fabric for the cost of most of the cushion covers at Ikea and there are some great solid basics. Like these linen covers:

So when I looked these up to link them, I was surprised to read that they are not linen, but a fabric I have never heard of called Ramie which is “a plant from the nettle family. It’s soft, durable and has the same feel as linen”. Huh, you really do learn something new every day!

I am planing on styling my dining room table for an upcoming post and I snagged 3 of these place mats:

They are made from water hyacinth, which is such a lovely textured material. Pottery barn has something very similar, but with a much higher pricetag.

The last thing that I want to share with you is this life-like looking air plant:

I have a major black thumb, so this is perfect for me! I am going to replace the air plant that I killed in my pretty glass terarium that sits on my dining room console.

I also bought some clear plastic storage bins, but you will get to see those in an upcoming post about toy storage….I am going to leave you hanging!

Hope you have a great weekend!
