Holiday Fun

Happy Weekend everyone! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones! Ours was crazy and chaotic as we tried to squeeze in as much holiday fun as possible. We took in some local attractions the few days leading up to the holidays and I couldn’t get over how busy they were.  Monday we took in Canyon Lights at the Capilano Suspension Bridge. We do this every year and while it’s always a popular event, this year the line ups were insane!

Despite the crowds, we had a lovely evening strolling through the canyon and taking in the lights. It has been so rainy here on the West Coast but it was such a beautiful night!

Christmas Eve Day we decided to take in ‘The Peak of Christmas” at the top of Grouse Mountain. One of the best things about living in Vancouver in the winter is that one minute we are in our green and rainforesty environment but within 10 minutes we can be playing in the snow!

We spent some quality time with my sister and took in all the activities the mountain top had to offer, with the exception of skiing. Only downside to this was the 45 minute wait in line to get on the Gondola back down to the parking lot. While it was a bit of a pain, we heard that people waited in line 2 hours to get down from the mountain the day before, so we were considering ourselves lucky.

Christmas day we woke up and did stockings, presents and had fresh waffles for breakfast. Then we took the dogs for a walk before catching our ferry to Vancouver Island.

We are here for another day before we head back to the hustle and bustle of the city. My in-laws have a farm with cows and chickens, and we love being here. Stella and I took the dogs for a big adventure down the field yesterday morning, and we feel so grateful for this beautiful spot!

Today Steve and I are heading off to our favorite Vancouver Island destination …the Kingfisher spa and resort. My lovely mother-in-law gives us a gift certificate for a massage there every year and it is absolute heaven! Here is a picture of us from last year…

This year we are having lunch in their newly renovated restaurant beforehand and I am so looking forward to it!

It’s been a fun and busy holiday season for our family and I am so grateful for this time together.

Enjoy the last weekend of 2019!
