Airbnb Styling Project

I am so excited to share a recent project with you today! I recently had the pleasure of styling and photographing my first Airbnb project, hopefully the first of many...I had so much fun with this!

Airbnb is the first resource we turn to when we are planning a vacation, as a matter of fact we just booked our upcoming Spring Break trip to Maui using Airbnb. As an Interior Decorator, I always pay close attention to the furnishings and decor when I am searching Airbnb listings. I have recently binged the show "Stay Here" on Netflix which combines Interior Decorating with the business side of owning and managing a rental property...I couldn't get enough! It really highlighted the importance of offering guests a beautiful experience by staging and styling your rental to the best of your abilities. To ensure the biggest return on your investment, styling and photos are of the utmost importance!

Good friends of mine recently completed construction on the most beautiful laneway house on their property and wanted to get it listed on Airbnb asap. They turned to me for help with the decorating and styling. Once the process was finished, I was able to sneak over with my camera to take some photos. I am not a professional photographer, but through some online courses and years of practice, I have gotten pretty good at shooting interiors, if I do say so myself! Studio Mcgee presets defintely help, lol.

If you live in Vancouver, you are probably familiar with the concept of a Laneway House or Coach House. When I shared a tour of the project on my Instagram stories, a few non-locals were like "what's a Coach House?" Fair enough and let me explain - it's a small house, completely separate from the main home on a property, in most cases they take the place of a garage. Their purpose is to generate rental income, or sometimes it's for extended family members. You can read more about them here.

Okay, enough of the backstory, lets get to the good stuff shall we? Without further ado, let me introduce you to the Modern Creekside Guesthouse, located in beautiful North Vancouver BC, Canada.

The coach house is a two story, 1000 square foot property. Like the name indicates, it's tucked in amongst some trees beside a creek, a little urban oasis! You walk into an open concept entryway/living room and kitchen with the most gorgeous natural light.

The furnishings are classic and timeless, but also very functional. My recommendation is always neutral furniture as a starting point. From there you can add color and texture through pillows, throw blankets and greenery to make the room come to life.

The kitchen is bright and white and provides the perfect styling backdrop. My favourite part is the coffee station...not just because I am addicted to caffeine, but how cute is the letterboard? When you are decorating with guests in mind, I think it is a nice touch to make it obvious where the essentials are located!

Also on the main floor, there is a full bathroom with light and bright white cabinetry, shiplap detail and black accents. We kept the styling simple in this room with some lovely accessories, soft towels and a faux plant.

And now for the upstairs principal bedroom. This is such a bright and inviting bedroom with a little balcony to enjoy a cup of coffee. The furniture and bedding is soft and neutral, and then we introduced indigo blue accents with the rug, throw blanket, pillow and vase and bedside lamp.

Well that is the tour complete! What do you think, isn't this a wonderful place for guests to stay? If you want more information on this adorable Airbnb, follow Modern Creekside Guesthouse over on Instagram.
